The Essence of Desperation

This past Sunday I was “chauffeuring” my wife to the various shopping locals in Bangor.  As I drove around the city, I noticed a lot of “No on 1” signs were out, but the “Yes on 1” were non-existent.  I notified those in charge of the Bangor area, expressing my frustration to their lack of vigilance.  I was appalled to learn that many “Yes on 1” signs have been placed next to “No on 1”; but, amazingly, by the next morning all the “Yes on 1” signs  had mysteriously “disappeared”.  Now, unless there is portal specifically designed to suck “Yes on 1” signs into the political correctness nether, I think we can use good old fashioned Mainer common sense to figure out what happened to those signs.
Sadly, this points to a deeper more troubling issue within the gay marriage movement.  It is about power acquired through any means including circumventing the will of the people.
No state populace has ever voted in a Gay Marriage law, not even California.  So the gay movement lobbied activist judges to overrule the people and enact laws contrary to the beliefs of the citizenry.  Here in our state, liberals have lowered themselves to stealing political signs.  Newspapers are editing out specific facts from op-eds they deem hurtful to the gay agenda.  Even the tired old accusation of “racist’ is being dredged up.  (I didn’t realize homosexuality was exclusive to a specific race.)  What does all this tell us?  Liberals are desperate.
So as we see the negative reflection of desperation, should we as concerned citizens cower in its glare?  No, fellow Mainers, we cannot afford to wallow in apathy any longer.  The political establishment is defeat able.   You may say its always been like this,; but I say, it doesn’t have to stay like this.
Let us become desperate.  Desperate to protect our families.  Desperate to rebuild our state. We can’t wait any longer.  Despite the many millions of dollars gay activists pour into this state to influence the vote, we hold the vote.  We are the final say.  Let them name call, distort and hide the truth, and , can you believe it, steal “Yes on 1” signs, we will still vote.
Don’t be ashamed to defend your children and grandchildren.  Disdain and ridicule from the media is hard to take, I know, but this issue demands citizen resolve more than any other.  This is not a popularity  contest.  This about our children’s future, our states future, our nations future.  Let us draw a line in the sand and vote.  Let  us all vote yes on 1.…we still hold the vote.

It’s more about Todd Palin

Yea, it really is to me.  Not that I have a man crush on the guy or anything, but he certainly seems like a man my friends and I would hang with.
Anyone who has read any of my columns at any length will soon realize that my wife and I are strong supporters of Sarah Palin.  To us, she represents a hope that somehow a dose of common sense can still be injected into Washington.  But common sense is an attribute that should also be applied liberally to our support of Sarah Palin.
So what has that to do with Todd Palin?  (When I say Todd Palin, I’m also inferring the whole family.)  Todd and Sarah Palin are faced with the Herculean task of not only maintaining their family unit in this present society (which is a monster we all face) but to answer the call of a desperate nation at the same time.  Powerful forces are pulling at this couple demanding hard choices.  We have watched them make some and have been impressed.  Unfortunately for the Palins, the hard choices will not end.  They will continue to come.
So Todd represents a litmus test for us as supporters to gauge Sarah.  Why, you ask, do we need such a test?  Sarah Palin is terrific!  She is also (brace yourself) human.  While her upbringing and faith fill me with a strong hope that she is immune to the temptation of power, I’m reminded that the path she walks is littered with the carcasses of many grounded and faithful heroes.  Like you, I am heartened to see that her speeches are few and far between so she can quickly escape back to Alaska to be with Todd and her gorgeous children…her real reality.
There are many in this arena, where Todd and Sarah do battle, that disdain their “attached at the hip” approach.  The concept of “one flesh” is repulsive to many of the elite, even those supposedly on “their side”.  The combined power of the husband and wife Palins will threaten some.  They will try to wedge them apart.  Thankfully Todd and Sarah Palin seem to be one step ahead of them by always having Todd, beaming Piper, or beautiful Willow or Bristol “attached to her hip” wherever she goes.  It’s hard to wedge people apart that are fused together.
Obviously, Sarah Palin is a beautiful powerful woman.  She now operates in a place where the beautiful and the powerful become so obsessed with those two attributes that they become hollow shells that live only for more beauty and more power.  They succumb to a vicious cycle of flattery, guile, and spousal upgrades all in search of a new rung on the power ladder.  So we are concerned that power may corrupt her, too.
The Bible describes powerful women through the portrayal of two females.  First, Abigail was a beautiful, wise woman who rose above her own negative circumstances.  She used her giftings to stop a powerful man from unjustly destroying an entire village.  Jezebel, equally powerful but treacherous, used her feminine wiles to manipulate men and nearly destroyed her country.
I think Sarah Palin has the personality of Abigail from the Bible.  I think Todd and Sarah long ago made a commitment to fidelity,  to their children, and to avoiding the “appearance of evil”.  I know that sounds Puritan, Biblical, and Victorian, but hey, it works.
With a note of caution, Sara and I continue to support the Palins.  Remember, if she fails, loses sight of Todd, and destroys her family it doesn’t change our cause.  I sound callous I know but conservatism must march on.  It is the only hope for our nation.  For those of faith, if she crumbles beneath the challenge like so many before have done, it doesn’t change God.  He is bigger than failure and can heal and restore.
The Palins are doing all the right things.  Staying close at home, using the computer as a weapon  for truth, and keeping their little ones close is their essential strength.  I’m glad to see they know how to use a computer because there are others out here, namely myself, who are having a hard time catching up.  I don’t know, but there is just something about a roomful of men standing around with cell phones  twittering…. That makes me uncomfortable…I queess I just can’t get past the lingo…ahem.
We are in a battle for this nation.  A battle of ideals…virtue against corruption.  So I fear for Todd and Sarah Palin but I believe in them.  They must not lose sight of each other.  Whatever happens, I will continue to fight for my country.  So in the words of our greatest conservative….“Trust , but verify”

What Exactly is Horse Pucky?

Last week I was humbled to find that my horizons, my perspective was in desperate need of broadening.  There are moments in our lives that effect the course of our personal history.  How we handle these pivotal times can alter the path of our life's pilgrimage forever.
So again last week, while roofing in 90 degree weather with 100% humidity, my friend, who also wishes to remain anonymous voiced his strident opinion about the relevant issues of the day.  Here I will quote him, though from behind the veil of anonymity.  He said, “I don't know if I can stand to hear anymore of this horse pucky from Obama!”
I was taken a back.  While I claim to have at least a layman's grasp of the English language, I confess that I was not aware of this equine term.  What was it's origin?  Of course the inevitable societal implications must be reconciled.  Driven by my thirst to delve in the existential, I pressed my friend to expound by asking, “What exactly is horse pucky ?!”
At this point my first anonymous friend (the original) rolled his eyes and sighed, “Well we know what Andy's next column will be about.”  So my friend has been proven to have a prophetic gift.  It should be noted here that the crew I work with have now become the Posse of the Anonymous.  With my original anonymous friend being it's head. I can't be in the posse because you know my name and to be anonymous you must be nameless....because that's what ....anonymous....means....
In other news,  research has shown that horse pucky is the exact opposite of horse sense, both metaphorically and anatomically.  Thankfully,  someone has come to give us a living, vibrant example.
Peter “now knee deep in the till” Mills has written an op-ed on his reason for running for Governor.  Mr. Mills wants us all to believe that he has been fighting all these years against fiscal irresponsibility.  Obviously, Mr. Mills thinks we all can't read.  He forgets that Mainers operate on a concept foreign to liberal politicians like him...common sense.  Peter Mills, you cannot cover up your voting record.  It will show, Mr. Mills, that you encourage the liberal spending spree that has imperiled Maine's financial viability for generations to come.  That is a pungent representation of horse pucky.  At www.meconservativevoice.wordpress.com there is a place for politicians like Peter Mills called Horse Pucky Hall.  If you can think of others that should reside there, please visit the site and nominate them for sentencing. I promise the judgment will be quick, fair and sarcastic.

Enter those Pesky Americans

They said we were divided.  The gleeful consensus worldwide was the United States  was no longer  united.  So as we teetered on the brink of splintered nationalism real or imagined (I lean towards imagined), up stepped one man to bring us back to our American roots.  Striding forward into his practiced messianic pose, this man realized that the sea change was not anything he could believe in.  It certainly was not what he had hoped for.  Those pesky Americans have the audacity to fight for their freedom.  Yes, Barack Obama, you have succeeded in unifying America like no one else could.
Unfortunately for the President, the country is  unifying against him not for him.  As pressure mounts on the White House, its’ true colors begin to immerge.  The administration has become more overt and clumsy in the application of Chicago thug politics.  Much to the chagrin of all the Presidents henchmen, the rest of the nation is not so cowed by gangster politics as perhaps Illinois is.
Sporting the worst six month approval rating since World War II, President Obama has taken the shroud off his socialist agenda.  Americans who could not before can definitely see the Marxism now.  Both Democrats and Republicans are voicing their outrage at town hall meetings…. which is what…. Town hall meetings… are for…. I thought that was … what… they… were….?
Well, Nancy Pelosi thinks differently (in many ways).  She expected the citizens to listen raptly, smile fawningly, and gaze in abject worship as they were “informed” of their new healthcare regime.
THE PEOPLE DIDN’T CAVE!!  THANK GOD!!  They acted like Americans.  They stood up to their politicians and revolted against the Government.  Patrick Henry would be so proud!
The Democratic Party’s’ response to the exercise of civil liberties was to call grandmothers, veterans,  and other hard working Americans thugs, mobsters, and disruptive anarchists.  The DNC reaction could be because it immediately suspects a replication of  its own tactics or the party of liberals does not comprehend and utterly disdains the power of individual Americans coming together to stand against an oppressive Government.  I think quite possibly both.
At any rate, the Democrats have banned  all town hall meetings.  Such a shame too… I was so looking forward to Rep. Michaud, Rep. Pingree, Sen. Snowe, and Sen. Collins coming back to Maine and explaining to all our mobster and gangster senior citizens how ObamaCare was going to cut their benefits.  Now that’s entertainment!…. And so bi-partisan, too!
What Barack Obama has come to painfully realize is that, outside of  Chicago, Americans disdain oppression.  Americans despise hypocrisy.  An administration that has occupied itself with the propagation of socialist lies now finds itself face to face with a nation that is shouting  “Don’t tread on me!”.

"Gangsta" Politics

Remember the old crime drama movies? There was always the lone crusade for justice who stood against the gangsters and their evil ways. The lone ranger always frustrated those of compromised morals by being impervious to their methods of temptation and corruption. Finally, in the end, the mob attacks the greatest weakness of an honest person, the innocent ones they love.

This is what has happened to Sarah Palin since the Presidential election. Predictably, the liberal Democrats have been terrified of her and have followed the Obama game plan of eliminating your opposition before they can challenge you. The first tactic was to bury her in a mountain of frivolous law suits, forcing her to incur debilitating legal debt. Much to the chagrin of these political mobsters, the Governor of Alaska seemed dogged in her determination to fight on.

So, the Obama lackeys were called in; the media. Nothing else had worked. You would have thought that piling a half a million dollars of debt on her would have made Governor Palin more interested in the stimulus money. I’m sure that some politician in Alaska could have shown the Governor how to redirect that money to her benefit. No, she stood by her conviction and ignored the temptation.

There was only one chink in the shining armor of Sarah Palin. Her little girls. The Obama network went to work sending their media thugs into attack. They hurled the most insidious, hateful things at these innocent girls. So this weekend, we found out that above all, Sarah Palin is a mother. She’s pulling back to protect the innocents’ she loves.

The Obama gangsters are pretty smug right now. The end justifies the means, I’m sure; after all, it’s just a conservative’s children. But Governor Palin will be back. Remember, she’s done this before when oil executives stonewalled her efforts of reform. She’s a fighter. She’ll be back.

But what is more disturbing? The Obama administration’s record of gangster thug tactics or the Republican party’s deafening silence. While the Palin family has twisted in the wind taking cheap shots from the Democratic Party, the Republicans have been disgustingly…silent. I’m shocked and appalled that my party has not offered to help pay for the legal bills that the Palin’s have accrued battling the Democrats. Shame on the Republicans!

Could it be that the Governor from Alaska knew that in the 2010 election her family would not only be facing hit-men from the Democrats, but also Republicans? You see, Sarah Palin is an honest person, that’s why Americans love her and politicians hate her.

Sarah Palin will be back. If she runs for President in 2012, ask yourself this. Do you want to elect an honest person or do you want to bow down to gangsters?

A Plethora of Petitions

There is a phenomenon sweeping our state. It is not unique in its’ concept but certainly in its’ scope. I’m not sure the state of Maine has ever had this many petition drives happening at once. I find this encouraging as it seems to indicate a growing dissatisfaction with the liberals who are in power in Augusta.

You would think that Democrats would be feeling that uncomfortable hint of apprehension before an impending storm; but, in true fashion, the party of socialism is so blinded by their own conceit that they cannot see the torches and pitchforks waving before their very eyes. Yes, this is what these petition drives exemplify. A torch and pitchfork frustration mounting throughout Maine. Liberalism has failed Maine. It has impoverished Maine…and now, because it has no answers, liberalism is ignoring Maine.

I listened to a Democratic Senator talk on one of the local morning shows concerning this very topic. When asked to explain the magnitude of the amount of petition drives, this Senator sniffed out her best oh, those wonder peasants response by saying, “Oh, they’re just exercising their civil rights.” That’s true, but she’s acting like it’s a commonplace activity. It’s not supposed to be! We’re supposed to be able to trust our Representatives to represent us; instead, we have been forced into digging political fire lines to contain the blazing socialist inferno of Augusta that wants to consume every tradition, freedom and revenue left in the state of Maine. It’s not “just” a matter of course. These are last ditch efforts to save our state from blind politicians.

So with unrest and frustration bubbling throughout the state, one would think this bears good fortune for the Republican party in a revolution of power; except that the Republican party is so blinded by the desire to self-destruct, that it can’t see the torches and pitchforks either. Factions within the party are trying to oust conservatives from their midst. It seems that moderates have forgotten that it is conservatives who are the poles holding up the tent. Kick out the poles and all you’ve got left is a tarp. That’s just something for Democrats to walk on. Let’s not be ashamed to be conservatives and give hard -working Maine a hope for a freer, brighter, less government future. Conservatism works. Let’s use it.

Say it ain't so. Joe!

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I’m hoping that Senator Joe Perry was just trying to inject some levity into the despair of the times we are in. Sadly, I fear that Mr. Perry may actually believe what he said on Fox News concerning the Democratic Party in Maine. Even more alarming, is the strong possibility that the good Senator thinks the citizens of Maine believe him, too. It seems that if one wallows in lies long enough one can inoculate himself against the truth.

In case you haven’t heard, Senator Joe Perry told Fox News that Maine Democrats have “a history of lowering taxes in Maine.” (You can pick your jaws up from the floor now.) This from a member of a party that has created the the richest entitlement program (Medicare) in the United States; so rich it is near bankruptcy. The Democrats historical (or hysterical) answer to the ballooning Mainecare budget… raise taxes. One of the proposed new taxes for this year was a “non-motorized watercraft” tax. Any law enforcement officer can tell you that an inner-tube is considered a “non-motorized watercraft”. So is there a tax differential between the skidder inner-tube and the family car inner-tube…and oh, I’m sure this is true… there must be eco-friendly tax breaks for those who use a “Prius” earth friendly, go green inner tub

This is the same party that has taxed all the industry out of the state of Maine. This is the party that has raised the fuel tax so high in Maine that truck drivers had to drive their trucks to Augusta to try to get some national attention, leaving Governor Baldacci cowering in his office, afraid to come out.

The “dirty little secret” Joe Perry doesn’t want you to know is that the Democrats’ overspending and over taxation has left Augusta in such a budget crisis that liberals had their backs to the wall. In desperation they allowed…you’ll never believe this…the Republicans to do a little cutting; not a lot, mind you (we wouldn’t want to actually fix the problem), just a little.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. The Democratic party platform has always been: 1.) Democrats make a mess 2.) Democrats blame the Republicans 3.) Republicans clean up the mess 4.) Democrats take the credit for it.

Senator Joe Perry reminds me of another Joe who is a gaff-a-minute and believes his own lies. He’s the Vice-President. I hope Governor Sarah Palin doesn’t mind if I borrow a line from the Vice-Presidential debate, “Say it ain’t so, Joe!”

Coliseum of Shame

Coliseum of Shame

Recently, there has been quite an uproar over David Letterman’s hateful, disgusting and perverted comments directed at the Palin women. I confess I did not hear the idiocy dribble from Letterman’s lips directly, but have heard them described and paraphrased over the past days. That was revolting and putrid enough for me.

One comment by a talking head on a news program has confused me; perhaps, even angered me. It was observed that Letterman’s’ ratings had boosted by the controversy. Are we, as a people, so voyeuristic and degraded that we would be enticed to watch a program to hear and see a dull, listless, bland “comedian” trash, smear, and trample the honor of innocent young women? Shouldn’t we have better things to do then stay up late and watch a dirty old man giggle impishly about the violation of little girls? How about getting some sleep so our work performance is not effected in the maintenance of our precious jobs?!? No, it’s not just Willow this “man” (I’m not sure I should use that noun) attacked but all the sweet young ladies, of this country, she represents.

I’m reminded of the Roman Coliseums. The Romans had strong stomachs and they liked their sports bloody and violent. In time, the gladiators were not entertaining enough for some. Those thrill seekers sought a new shocking reality to watch. Why not innocent everyday people with no military training and have them do battle with gladiators, ravenous beasts and overwhelming odds? What fun to watch the feeble helpless attempts of a poor farmer trying to protect his wife and little ones from rape, pillage and dismemberment; and better yet, let’s make sure they are all Christians. That way we can eliminate that annoying sect of people we don’t like. I’m sure there were many Romans appalled by this, but for some reason the Coliseums still remained full to watch this debauchery. It took a decree by Caesar to stop one of the darkest times in World History.

Americans have a strong stomach for the verbal battles that happen in Washington and in our media. We like political battles to be hard and hot. The verbal battles can be vicious, and to be truthful, we like it that way. But little girls should not be thrown into this coliseum not should any woman’s honor be attacked in this arena. We must maintain our decency as a nation. We cannot throw innocents into our political pits for public entertainment.

Thankfully for Willow Palin, her mother is quickly becoming one of the great political minds of our time, and is more then capable of wielding her intellectual sword to fend off that filth that has attacked her daughter. But for those who tuned into Letterman in hopes of seeing the Palin girls smeared… shame on you! To those who tuned into that late show to see what was going on…shame on you! None of us should do anything to condone or cause Mr. Letterman to prosper.

As my friend, who wishes to remain nameless said, “Where is A-Rod in all of this?” Why is he silent? He should decry Letterman and sue him for using his name in such perversion. I agree. As for me, I’ve never watched David Letterman and don’t care to start; although, if Todd Palin (you know, Iron Dog Todd Palin) were to ever meet David Letterman on the street…I just might pay to see that.

Love Life Forward

Inevitably, in the debate on gay marriage, the charge of hatred will be leveled against those who defend the heterosexual tradition of marriage. There seems to be a feeling among liberals that any institution that maintains an exclusive membership policy is somehow exhibiting animosity towards those excluded. I suspect that this “feeling” is grounded more in spin than in fact. Boys are excluded from being members of the girls softball team in every state of the Union (yes, even California). Something tells me that the girls hold no feelings of animosity toward the boys being excluded from the team.

We often hear the rigid statutes of marriage being railed against by the media and its’ leftist allies. Why, then, would liberals be so intent on the homosexual community gaining access to a tradition so “confining”, so “archaic” and so “out of touch” with modern times? It’s certainly not because they admire marriage. Hollywood has made that abundantly clear. It’s not for legal status. Civil unions have already established that (and they’re so hip, cool and modern, too). So why the fixation with the heterosexual tradition of marriage? If an institution loses its’ exclusitivity, it then loses its’ societal status. It can no longer demand adherence to its’ own standards because it is no longer unique. Liberals want marriage to blend in, not stand alone. Heterosexuals provide for the greatest need a society has; regeneration. Marriage defines the parameters by which regeneration functions properly. Marriage in its’ essence is forward looking.

A young starry-eyed couple embark on a journey of love and make vows they may or may not fully comprehend. Soon, with or without warning, a child is on the horizon and this begins to accelerate the maturation from selfish love to selfless love. Every waking hour must be consumed with the future of their little ones. Sometimes driven to the brink of exhaustion, they work, pray and hope for a better future for their offspring. This is the engine that drives a nation.

Marriage by its’ very existence demands selflessness; in fact, selfishness can bring marriage to an unfortunate demise. The homosexual and hedonistic lifestyles, so prevalent among liberals, is predicated upon personal pleasure and personal gratification. You cannot function properly in a marriage and be focused on personal gain. Everything you do in marriage is focused on the future of those you’ve created.

Every society in the world has at its’ foundation the heterosexual relationship. It is the only means by which a nation can propagate its’ future. Homosexuals cannot regenerate. No matter what species of animal, you must have male and female to regenerate. Societies have established marital tradition as the governance to those who procreate. It is exclusive for that reason. Not to hate those who cannot create life, but to establish the contractual structure to define and protect those who create the future of a nation. Marriage is for the heterosexuals who love life forward.

What would Daniel Webster say?

Lawmakers run a muck! I can hear you say, “What else is new.” I concede that the temptation for apathy is there. A shrug of the shoulder, a shake of the head, and one more collective sigh of disgust ripples across the state of Maine. Augusta shows its’ true colors once again. Government for the people and by the people has decided to ignore the people.

For the third time, the citizens of Maine have to remind Representatives what it means to represent. To me, this third People’s Referendum is more than protecting the tradition of marriage. It’s about confronting the blind arrogance of the politicians who think they can circumvent the will of the people.

I don’t know about your home, but in my house my children have to ask the same parent who said, “No” if they want a variance of that edict. Of course, they try to work the system and play one parent against the other, but they soon find out that Mom and Dad have been around that block a time or two. It doesn’t work. Dad or Mom said, “No” and Dad or Mom has to change their mind before the kids want to proceed.

Well, the people said, “No” on gay marriage…twice already. We the people have to change our mind before Augusta can proceed, but the politicians are trying to circumnavigate Maine citizens with their own legislation to legalize gay marriage. So once again, it falls to the Mainers to remind the boys and girls out of the State House what it means to represent the people. It’s not like we don’t have enough to do trying to survive this economy and keep a little money for ourselves, after Augusta gets its cut. I’m sure we can find time to do the lawmakers’ job, too.

I’m not sure liberals know the definition of no, represent and representative. It’s no wonder that folks who support gay marriage are signing this petition. They think the people should decide. Liberals are employing the tired old tactic of a spoiled child. They keep nagging in hopes an authority will wear down and give in. Let’s not be apathetic. Let’s remind Augusta who said, “No” in the first place. So, if someone approaches you with a petition to sign; remember it’s about marriage, and sending blind, arrogant lawmakers a message.

Oh, Daniel Webster defines no represent and representative as follows:

no- 1. not at all 2. nay; not so: used to deny, refuse or disagree ADJ.: not any, not one N: 1. refusal or denial 2. A negative vote

represent- 1. To present to the mind 2. To present a likeness of 3. To describe 4. To stand for; symbolize 5. To be the equivalent of 6. To act 7. To act in place of by conferred authority 8. To serve as an example of

representative- ADJ. 1.representing 2. Of or based on a representation of the people by elected delegates 3. Typical. N. 1. Example or type 2. One authorized to act for others

3. member of the lower house of congress or of a state legislature.

Fine Arts and Heirlooms

I’ve noticed signs around town in Dover-Foxcroft, ME calling for the salvation of the Music and Art courses. It got me to thinking about electives and extras. Wasn’t there a time when Music and Art were considered necessary electives? We all hoped that our children would at least dip their toe in the artistic pool for some fine art exposure. So what brings us to this point when even basic pleasures are being taken away?

It always seemed like our forefathers, the “old-timers”, always had some precious heirloom they kept. A search through the attic of many of our elderly’s homes inevitably will reveal relics, treasures and antiques. How did our ancestors manage to acquire such jewels on so little income in comparison to the wage scale of today? Our grandparents only bought things when they could afford it. Because they bought only when they could afford I, they could keep what they bought.

Last winter, my wife and I suffered through some financial difficulties. We had to pinch pennies and tighten our belts to fight and get our heads back above water. We had to cut back on our spending. We simply had too much. My elders had so much because they had just enough. I’ve learned that wealth is acquired over time and not in a single moment.

While I’m tearing to spend less, I keep reading opinion editorials from our legislators lauding the new spending legislation they are initiating. Our governments keep reaching for new things they can’t afford, grasping for shiny new threads to cover their poverty. If we keep buying what we want, we might lose what we need. Can you imagine education without music and art? I can’t. But keep up the bloated spending and we may just find it’s reality.

What's Wrong with Saying "No"?

Lately it seems that Democrats have been trying to exploit that natural human aversion to the word “No“. Human nature, more often then not, is frustrated by this simple two letter word because it generally means we can’t have what we want.

To the Liberal, “No” is the villain in every act of life’s theatre. Every pleasure, every desire, and every fantasy should be examined through personal experience. The idea that an individual could seek counsel of someone who has already passed through said experiences and thereby avoid any pitfalls and encumbrances that an indulgent incurs is ludicrous to the “free thinking”. Once young “new thinkers” follow the older “free thinkers” on the path of enlightenment, they soon find themselves buried in a pile of enlightened personal baggage; but, instead of stopping for a personal critic of ones lifestyle choices, social elites point the finger and howl and rage at the ones who told them “No“. It was, of course, their negative attitude that drove them there in the first place.

Parents who dare harbor the word “No” in their disciplinary verbiage are maligned as dysfunctional. Nothing is more frustrating to a Liberal then children who are raised to understand law and order, cause and effect, and, that nasty word, personal responsibility. These young people are much harder to exploit and prey upon. Liberals much prefer undisciplined minds to drain and fill with their mantra. Thus, it takes a village to raise a child. Yes, Greenwich village.

Some parents will raise disciplined children prepared for life and all of it’s challenges. Undoubtedly, they will become successful in life. Socialist will punish them for being raised with the word “No” in their background and therefore understanding limits and parameters. “Free thinkers” will wag their fingers, from underneath their enlightened baggage, railing against the ill-gotten wealth accumulated embracing the attributes of “No“. They will demand it be redistributed to all who have rejected the confines of the word “No” and now wallow amongst their baggage.

Lastly, the Republican Party almost seems embarrassed to say “No“. They’ve held a meeting trying to decide how not to say no, but still say “No“. They want to find a way to make the party more appealing. (That’s code for trying to lie like a Democrat) The word “No“, as small as it is, has the power to stop motion or action. It just needs someone strong enough to use it effectively. As our country is spiraling towards socialism, the Republicans need to say “No“. People who have the strength to say “No” are forward looking people. They can see past the horizon to the effects of a certain action and stop it before the damage occurs. I hope the Republicans have the strength to be the party of “No“. I not, they are the party of “Yes“. We can’t afford that.

Adding Insult to Injury

While the citizens of the United States are licking their collective financial wounds, the Obama administration id compounding the pain by insulting the intelligence of the American people. This whole slap down of the American intellect started with the quick nomination and confirmation of Timothy Geithner as treasurer of the United States. The President audaciously demanded that it’s citizens ignore the fact that the man, who would exponentially increase our tax burden, “forgot” to pay 34 thousand dollars in taxes.

Last week the President said in his speech that we need to reject the policies of “borrow and spend” of the past and begin to “save and invest”. I agree with that statement; unfortunately, Mr. President, actions speak louder than words. Barack Obama’s budget creates 9.3 trillion dollars in debt doubling the deficit in 5 years and tripling it in ten years. He also claims that Republicans had offered no alternative budget. The unusually well-coordinated White House forget to get the memo to the media about this latest smear tactic or at least hadn’t watch the new because the media had already run a story on the Republicans alternative budget plan.

The President promised to stop pork barrel projects, yet passed a bill with 8,500 of them in it. He promised to stop wasteful programs, but has nothing to fix the looming Medicare albatross. Now he’s heading off to the G20 to rail against protectionism, forgetting that he opposed the Columbia free trade act and supports union teamsters attacks against trades with Mexico.

Finally, in its’ haste to exploit to our financial misfortunes, the administration rammed through a stimulus bill and…forgot to read it. Mr. Geithner didn’t inform the President about a bonus clause for AIG executives in the bill. Ooops! So far, with the economy in the balance, it seems we have had nothing but a collective “Oops!” from the oval office.

While Democrats continue try to blame George W. Bush for this mess, they are hoping to hide the facts from the American people. Last year the national debt was 459 billion. When Barrack Obama took office in January 569 billion. Since the 20th of January he has added 1.267 trillion dollars to the national debt. Yes, that’s trillion with a “tr”. That’s more than all the past Presidents combined. Mr. Obama, you just eliminated all the past U.S. leaders you could blame it on.

The great travesty in all this is that Democrats actually think citizens believe what liberals say rather than what they do. Maybe that’s because Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Rahm Emmanuel and, yes, Barrack Obama have never held a job in the private sector. They are painfully deficient in the one natural resource America abounds with; common sense. As Obama’s approval ratings plummet, it would be wise for Democrats to address this one issue. Across America, the one thing both Democrat and Republican voters have in common, is that they despise hypocrisy.

Dumb on Stupid Sandwich, Please!

If you thought the Obama Administration could not pull another stunt diametrically opposed to common sense, think again.  It has taken some time to write this as I have had to stop from time to time and pick my jaw up off the floor.  Hollywood could not have scripted a weirder "twilight zone" scenario.
Violence has been spilling over the border with Mexico for months now, but Janet Napolitano, our Secretary of Homeland Security, has said she wants to wait to see if violence is spilling over the border before she takes drastic action...on...the...border....???  Didn't...we ...just...say that...?  Hmmm... wasn't she the Governor of Arizona for...awhile? Doesn't Phoenix have the second highest drug related kidnapping rate in the world?
Even if violence was not spilling over the border common sense would dictate that her job would be to insure that violence would never spill over the Mexican border.  But in a stroke of genius, Napolitano has decided to focus her attention and resources to the ... Canadian border???!!!  I haven't been to Jackman, Maine lately and maybe I've missed something in the news cycle, but I haven't heard anything about drug cartels on our border with Canada.  I haven't seen the pictures of the bodies of peace officers lying in the streets of the Canadian border towns.  Children are not being rescued from schools north of the States amid a hail of bullets.
So why would the DHS Secretary want to disrupt the most peaceful border in the world?  One could wonder if the Madam Secretary is really that detached from reality or is there a more subtle motive at work here.
Homeland Security has announced that it is no longer calling the War on Terror the War on Terror....??  It is now an "Overseas Contingency Plan"... what is that??!!  Terrorists around the world are now laying down their weapons in awe... or, to hold their sides with laughter.  We are no longer to use the label terrorist for the ...Overseas... Contingency... people... we are fighting; unless, of course, (drum roll please) it's those American citizens who own guns, who are Christians, and/or  those who are soldiers returning from battle with those poor misunderstood Overseas Contingency people.  Yes, I'm serious.  The Obama administration has released a memo to law enforcement agencies warning that returning war veterans, conservative Christians, and gun owners are potential "terrorists".
Let me place my sarcastic wit aside and ask a civil question.  Do any of us, from any political viewpoint or walk of life, really want to start calling our fellow Americans terrorists just because their faith or political leanings are not concurrent with our own?  Diversity within the confines of law is a civil right.  Fellow citizens, we cannot be complacent and allow such a miscarriage of power to happen in public office. An overreach of Government in just one area will effect us all.  We the people, collectively, must keep this  Government accountable.
So whether this policy is just a big slice of stupid slathered with a hefty amount of dumb between two halves of incompetence or the work of master illusionists diverting attention to one hand while the real work is deftly happening in the other remains to be seen.  It could be the mask to a frightening shift in Government power or just a "Dumb on Stupid" sandwich from the White House deli.  Time will tell.

Yo ho! Of to Tripoli we go?

In the last few months I have had harsh words to pen in regards to our first socialist President, both on my blog and editorial letters. I must commend him on his handling of the rescue of Captain Phillips. President Obama allowed the military to do what it does best and that is act decisively. I hope in the future Barack Obama will have the intestinal fortitude to follow the example of Thomas Jefferson, who faced a similar situation. Jefferson located the base of piracy at Tripoli and sent in American warships to destroy it. Hopefully we will show the same strength in Somalia and not bow to the “lack of will” of the United Nations.

Still, what a great nation we have! We place a high value on the lives of our citizens. The lengths and intricacy that our military went to for that brave captain is breathtaking. How many other nations would do that? The list is short. A Mr. Silvio Bartoletti, who owns an Italian tugboat that was hijacked, said he was “marveling” that our nation would go through such lengths “for one American and not eight Italians”. He said he hoped he would see that same response for his crew. So… Italy doesn’t have it’s own Navy? It is because they don’t care, Silvio, or maybe they’re afraid of the pirates? Perhaps it’s because the great socialist solution to the Italian economy has your nation so bankrupt the Italian Navy can’t afford the fuel to pull off a rescue?! At any rate, America is always the villian until Europe’s proverbial behind is in the proverbial sling, then it’s U.S.A. to the proverbial rescue…again.
